The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on O-MEALS has felicitated with Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on the occasion of his 66th birthday anniversary.

Worthy of note is your efforts, devotion, dedication, commitment and the zeal to serve Osun people which is commendable and glaring to the visibly impaired. Oyetola, an astute administrator has no replica, you have been resolute in defending the people, embarking on people oriented projects which are tailored towards the attainment of a greater Osun state, thereby paving the way for socio-economic and political development of our dear state.''

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on  Osun Elementary school Feeding Program O'meals, Alhaja Folake Olaniyan has charged O'meals food vendors to always adhere to the Covid-19 safety protocols while on their duty

Alhaja Olaniyan stated this  in Osogbo while declaring open a training workshop organized for the O'meals food vendors on Covid-19 safety precautions that must be observed while feeding pupils in their various schools.

She explained that the training workshop becomes necessary because of the Covid-19 pandemic ravaging the world, stressing that the food vendors have roles and responsibilities  in ensuring that the deadly novel virus is tamed among school pupils.

Alhaja Olaniyan used the occasion to appeal to the vendors to ensure that they adhere to the agreed bench mark and maintain the workable standard for feeding the school pupils at all times.

She said, "As you all know, the Coronavirus pandemic is still with us, we just have to do everything possible to limit its spread. As food vendors involved in feeding our pupils under the O'meals program, you have a responsibility which you must carry out to help government in the fight against the novel Coronavirus.

"Apart from the Covid-19 safety protocols you are being taught today, you must maintain good hygiene practice both at home and in school. Just as the saying goes "the way you dress is the way you will be addressed", as such, you must always be tidy and keep your cooking utensils neat at all times'.

"while feeding the pupils in schools, you must not compromise on the agreed bench mark and maintain workable standard for feeding them, whoever refuse to adhere to the laid down rules of Osun Elementary school Feeding Program will be penalized". The SSA stated.

While appreciating the administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for sustaining the O'MEALS programme, Alhaja Folake assured the food vendors that they will benefit from various other programs that the Governor will soon unveil.

Earlier in a welcome address, the state program officer, O'meals, Mrs Olufunke Fabusuyi commeded the efforts of Mr Adegboyega Oyetola for the support as regards the O'meals program in the state. 

She said the O'meals program in the state which takes care of pupils in primary 1-4 with a huge amount of money has gone a long way in improving school enrollment especially at the grassroots level, saying a lot of children are now eager to be in school.

She added that the training is aimed at equipping the food vendors with the necessary precautionary measures against the spread of covid-19.

Elementary education has been the bedrock of formal education in Nigeria. Therefore, the APC led government has decided to embark on an initiative to enhance school feeding, tagged the Osun Elementary School Feeding and Health Programme (O-MEAL) to cater for the feeding of its primary school pupils across the state.

Research has shown the enormous importance of feeding in the lives of primary school students as many are now keen to attend schools because of the O-MEAL project. The project enhances the health of the state's young population and helps to stimulate learning amongst the students across the state.

Therefore, the State government had embarked on the programme due to the need to uplift the face of the department by putting a viable structure in place to ensure that the free feeding programme across all local government areas in the state continues seamlessly.

At this juncture, the Governor, on the counsel of advisers and practitioners in the education sector decided to delegate the responsibility of implementing the project on a woman of dexterity and sagacity, the astute Coordinator of OYE 4 OSUN, a sociopolitical group which propagates the good governance of Oyetola's administration to the people at the grassroots level.

This gesture is not devoid of the giant strides and feats recorded by the esteemed Coordinator of OYE 4 OSUN prior to, during and beyond the electioneering process.

Should we talk about the multipurpose machine donated by the supportive Coordinator and the OYE 4 OSUN group to support Oyetola in his efforts to contain COVID-19 pandemic; or the just concluded community Outreach Programme conducted by her group to feel the impulse of the people and financially support residents across all local government areas in the state?

This intellectual acumen has been noticed by Oyetola and hence, he conferred her with the obligation of uplifting the face of the O-MEAL Programme.

Her leadership style made her the perfect match for the position and it is just a matter of time before the innovative ideas that will further fuel the efficacy of the O-MEAL project be gladly executed across the board.

In the same vein, I beseech on workers in the department delegated to implement the programme to collectively work with the new special Assistant to actualize the facelift.

Therefore, this is a subtle message to all and sundry to prepare for the transformation that will soon commence as Alhaja Fauziat Folake Olaniyan assumes office as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor in that department.

Concomitantly, I also urge parents and guardians to ensure that all their wards are returned back to school whenever the schools reopen so that their wards can enjoy the feeding programme that will soon takeoff. This would ensure the academic success of their wards and enhance their health and nutritional abilities.
